A delightful collection of sweet treats, vintage candy, cookies, and baked goodies from childhood memories. These illustrations were originally used on gift wrapping and package designs for The Container Store, I created a new illustration using a few of them that I created and had fun with them on this new illustration.
Granny's Christmas cookies smell so good, when they are baking in the oven...my granny bakes these every year...From left to right (Husarenkrapfen, Terassen-Plätzchen, Nougat-Walnuss-Plätzchen, Buttergebäck and Rumkugeln).
Every Christmas, my husband would make gingerbread cookies with our kids. They would cut them out with dino and traditional gingerbread men cookie cutters. By the end of the evening, the dinos always ended up with 2 heads and the gingerbread men would have dino heads. What silly fun!
This is a recipe we like to make every year from a 1950's publication. It indicated it made 3 dozen and cost .93 cents! I retained the actual ingredients in the recipe to reflect the era of the recipe. However, the corn syrup can be substituted with 1 tbsp. each of honey and maple syrup. The cat under the tree is our boy Zorro who loves the magic a Christmas tree brings. Happy Holidays!
