This drawing is inspired by my love of vintage tablecloths and napkins. I adore the texture of the fabrics and the printed or embroidered flowers or foods or monograms they have embellishing them. To me the perfect picnic blanket is a vintage tablecloth. Hopefully my picnic blanket and flowers show that here in this drawing. Picnics to me are fun, sweet and playful, I hope that translates as well. Drawn using the procreate app.
A pond ripplin. A fish splooshin. A silver willow swaying. Add some spiked lemonade with macerated cherries and some crispy buttermilk fried chicken (or some marinated, quick charred tofu) for a truly indulgent afternoon....enjoyed equally solo or with good buds❤️
I am an introvert. Big time, and with the ongoing pandemic, my work-from-home-by-myself space has turned into a bustling shared office full of activity. It's been a bit overwhelming. While I absolutely love my husband, I just want a lazy afternoon away from his loud-talking voice. As soon as I started to think of my dream picnic, I couldn't stop imagining a few quiet minutes alone with a book and the breeze and a nice hearty sandwich. So this picnic illustration is for everyone out there who needs a quiet moment with only the trees for company.
It's a cool crisp day. You and your bestie have decided to enjoy the gorgeous weather. A cozy flannel blanket welcomes you both to sit and relax. You brought the hot coffee and your friend brought the homemade pumpkin pie. Oops, we forgot the whipped creme! Its ok, the pie tastes amazing on its own.
