Spice it up - this spicy, hot fruit drink is my go to whenever a sore throat is approaching. It is very spicy, but delicious and feels like a comfy scarf from the inside. It calms the pain in my throat and makes me very warm. Perfect to snuggle on the couch and recover.
Pumpkin Spice Lattes, warm lemon tea, fairytale pumpkins and (though not edible) horse chestnuts are some of my favorite signs of fall. Here I combined watercolor illustrations and shared them on TDAC for the FEAST collection.
Four of my autumn seasonal favorites, all lined up. Only three of four are edible! Pumpkin spice lattes, a whole pumpkin, and yummy lemon tea. The fourth, horse chestnuts, are not! They are pretty and a true sign of fall. Sometimes they get mistaken for edible chestnuts, though, which are delicious when roasted. Make sure you select carefully!
I just love the warm inviting smells of apple, orange, cinnamon and clove that fill the house! When making this delicious drink! Not to mention the cozy warming taste!
We love making this traditional English drink every year for Samhain and Yule.
Indian cooking is known for its aromatic herbs and spices. If you go to any Indian kitchen, you’ll find a box of spices used for everyday cooking. Generally made of steel, this box contains small containers of like turmeric, red chilli, Mustard seeds, cumin and coriander powder and garam masala! And then there are whole variety of dried spices which give the Indian dishes their unique flavour. Some of them remind me of my grandmother who had her own blend of garam masala. How many of these have you used?
My friend gave me a recipe for spicy berry chutney and told me it disappears in minutes after opening the jar. The recipe was in German (a language I only know a few words and how to construct sentences :))) so I tried to translate it and the minute I saw the word blackberries I remembered the marvelous forest path in the mountains that we often go to on the weekends. At this time of the year it is full of blackberries and they are very juicy and fragrant.
So we went berry picking and came back with the most substantial ingredient for that chutney.
I changed the recipe a bit and here it is! It is super easy and very delicious. Enjoy!
One of the best ways to add instant flavour to dishes is cooking with spices. They not only give a boost to your taste buds but also to your health. I cook with so many spices and often end up filling any empty jar with spices, very few of them match! My jars have their very own box in the corner of my kitchen filled with whole ( I buy in bulk ) and freshly roasted ground spices. I honestly couldn't imagine my life without these little jars.
