One of my favorite chickpea recipes is farinata, an Italian street food famous in Genoa and the Ligurian region in general. Needing only a few simple ingredients, it can be made at home, but in my opinion, nothing beats the one you can find in Italy strolling along the seaside.
My mom makes this chili for many of our family gatherings, and it's so tasty that we all take some home with us (only if there's any left!). It's a delicious and filling recipe, and very simple, too! You can also used canned beans, if desired. : )
What I love the most about travelling is to try every single dish I find on my way ..

Channa is a traditional Guyanese dish using the humble and familiar chick pea or garbanzo bean. This dish hails from the Indian influence in the Guyanese culture and was a recipe passed from my great grandmother, to my grandmother and then from my mother to me. We always say, if you're going to eat channa, make sure everyone else in the room is as well. That way you can to ensure you're not the only one experiencing it's pleasurable flavour and also its familiar legume side effect - bad gas!
This easy to make hummus recipe is a tasty addition to any meal or snack. Hummus originated in the Middle East, and has been a favorite in my family for years. That's why I selected this recipe for the Global Cuisine Design Challenge.
Visiting a beach in Mumbai as kid was incomplete without chana chaat, a tangy chickpea salad. Easy enough to recreate at home, this quick recipe works wonderfully as a starter. If you don't have chaat masala in your kitchen pantry, substitute with paprika.
My favorite memories of my childhood are of riding around on scooter and mopeds with my family in India. I was the youngest so I always got to ride standing up between my dad and the steering handle. My most favorite nights were those when my dad would come home from work and my parents would take us to eat street food. There is nothing like eating from a Lari(stall), specially when it comes to Pani Puri. Each puri is stuffed by a man behind the counter, not wearing gloves, and handing it over one by one. Puris are crunchy shells, that are stuffed with spicy black chana and potatoes. The stuffed puri is then dunked into pani, minty water. As you try to fit the whole puri in your mouth, some of the pani inevitably leaks out form your mouth. Eating a pani puri feels like a flavor explosion. It is truly a magical experience and worth taking the risk of eating from a street vendor.
