I researched several local attractions that could be possible sites for the map. I tested colours, fonts, and images for suitability for the project. I decided to do a Halloween Theme Event within an amusement park. It is Busch Gardens in Tampa Bay, Florida, and the adult event is called “Howl-o-Scream.”

Utilizing my pen skills in Illustrator and my color palette, I created icons, secondary icons, decorative items, and the layout of walkways and roads. I worked in stages and added the icons and decorative items to the completed design. I finally created a legend that matched the creative energy of the map.

I created all the illustrations by myself and maximized the color palette with strategic tints. The typography was playful, using a slab serif and script in the palette colours. The map's feel combines quirky, scary, fun and saturated colours that make the park event look inviting.

I wanted the map to be beautiful and reflect a fun adult event. I wanted it to be a keepsake and the items on it to be transferable to other media if needed. I feel I have achieved this.
