I was inspired to create an illustration that captures the Cheviot hills in North Northumberland, close to where I live for The Great Outdoors brief. The Cheviots aren't well-known as a range of hills and are usually blissfully empty of people and full of a wide range of wildlife, much like the curlews that I've pictured. I've tried to capture the texture and colour of the hills in early spring time, when the clouds race across the sky and the gorse begins to flower.
