Colophon

Colophon comes from the Greek word “κολοφων” or "kolophon," which means "summit" or "finishing touch." It is a description of the details and methods behind a publication and is often found on the last few pages of books.

TYPOGRAPHY

THEY DRAW's logo was hand drawn by Salli. Some headings are set in Slender, a hand-drawn font from Nate and Salli that you can purchase, too! Other headers are set in DIN, which stands for Deutsches Institut für Normung (German Institute for Standardization)—it was originally used for road and railway signage. Body text is set in Lato, a sans-serif typeface family started in the summer of 2010 by Warsaw-based designer Łukasz Dziedzic (“Lato” means “Summer” in Polish). In December 2010 the Lato family was published under the Open Font License by his foundry tyPoland, with support from Google. The semi-rounded details of the letters give Lato a feeling of warmth, while the strong structure provides stability and seriousness. “Male and female, serious but friendly. With the feeling of the Summer,” says Łukasz.
