Colophon - They Draw & Cook

“Colophon” comes from a Greek word meaning ‘a summit,’ ‘top,’ ‘finishing.’ It is a description of the details and methods behind a publication, often found on the last few pages of a book.

Typography

The TDAC logo was hand drawn by Nate and the tagline makes use of a custom typeface crafted by Salli called Salli Scribbles. It is available for $5 on Nate and Salli's website, Studio SSS. This site utilizes @font-face tags to enable unique typography on the web. Navigation and headings also make use of Salli's custom typeface. Additional headings utilize League Gothic, a free typeface originally designed by Morris Fuller Benton in 1903 and available from The League of Moveable Type. Body text for the site is set in Helvetica Neue.

Design

Salli and Nate worked with Neoteric Design to develop the redesign of They Draw & Cook in the Winter of 2011. Neoteric redesigns websites with a focus on customer needs, site goals, ease of use and engaging design.

Technical

We used Illustrator, Photoshop, and TextMate to create this site. The site runs on Ruby on Rails. Content is maintained using Refinery. It is authored using HTML5, and complies with web standards as set by the W3C.
