Cappelletti! Typical pasta from Emilia-Romagna, my home-region. In my family we used to make them all together for Christmas and cook them in broth, which is also the way I prefer to eat them! I need to learn how to make them in my own... Maybe it could be one of my new year resolutions!
I illustrated this recipe for a talented cook who wanted a Mother's Day gift for her mom who taught her to cook. She found this delicious and quirkily worded old family recipe in her mom's recipe box. I used a pointed calligraphy pen dipped in ink for the lettering, and watercolor for the illustrations (and for the red in "Pizza dough").
A tasty French treat eaten in January to celebrate Epiphany. You hide a small ceramic figure called a feve in the dough (a dried bean will do). Whoever gets the feve gets a paper crown and becomes kind or queen for the day and is guaranteed luck for the year!
Two weeks in the South of France was not good for my waistline this summer. We ate baguettes everyday as part of picnics on nature trails or trips to the beach.
