Coming from a region of the country, that grows, brews and cures its own tea to the finest around the world its no surprise I am a tea lover. ( love coffee too) The varieties of tea that comes from India & the world, along with Indian spices definitely make them binge-worthy. Ginger, lemon, lemongrass, cinnamon, nutmeg, mint, aniseed, jasmine, saffron and zillion other things to tango with tea. My favourite- the sulaimani from northern Kerala... truly zesty, healthy and it is the season to glug on tea
A coffee person at heart but hailing from India, Chai somehow has a special place for itself within me,especially Ginger tea. It's amazing how a simple beverage seeped its way through different cultures across the world . Not to mention the beautiful kettles and ceramics that are created as a result of its existence.
Ever since I can remember, I've been fascinated by the diversity of culture, language and people groups on our planet. When I joined an international humanitarian aid organization, one of my colleagues became like a sister to me in a short amount of time. An American, her family migrated from Chennai, India when she was young. On one assignment, we were relocated to Uganda due to regional unrest where we were living. We searched high and low to drum up the ingredients to make her family's version of Masala chai, a treat from the daily realities of our working environment . I love the mix of spices, sweetness, and creamy milk taste, drinking it hot especially at breakfast.
