I'm a student at MassArt and had a lot of fun working on my first illustrated recipe! Kouloudia (or Koulourakia) is a Greek cookie popular for Easter (Red eggs at Easter are also a Greek tradition.) Having a Greek grandmother and being a picky eater as a kid, Kouloudia has always found its way to my plate any time of year.
These are the perfect breakfast treat and so easy to make. I love to serve them with maple syrup, but you could have them with whatever topping you like. To add extra flavour to the batter you could stir in some blueberries or chocolate chips!
This here is my mother's recipe for a breakfast casserole that she serves on Christmas morning. I look forward to it every year, and I was excited to share it via illustration. Enjoy!

This one is a favourite with my family and relatives when we go camping or on tours through the Australian outback. The baked beans are the main feature, and very filling for the children in our group. It's a very extravagant meal that is easily prepared over the camp fire. We often find that we need very little lunch or dinner for the rest of the day!
The mountain featured in the background is Mount Connor. This is located near Curtin Springs in the Northern Territory.
Over the past several years Avocado Toast is has become extremely popular, especially in California. It's fast, easy and anything goes, which means people are very creative using their favorite toppings.
Personally, I prefer mine without the toast but still get creative and enjoy trying different herbs and vegetables to compliment the avocado's mild taste.
Cappelletti! Typical pasta from Emilia-Romagna, my home-region. In my family we used to make them all together for Christmas and cook them in broth, which is also the way I prefer to eat them! I need to learn how to make them in my own... Maybe it could be one of my new year resolutions!
Global Cuisine: "Full English", "English Breakfast", "Fry Up"—whatever you decide to call it, this is a classic UK dish. People take it so seriously that it can become a controversial issue if one uses the wrong type of potato, tomato, or puts the beans in the wrong place. Keeping me warm and full all day, this is my favorite thing to indulge in when traveling in England.
It's holiday season already, and I wanted to illustrate a recipe for traditional Russian salad that is still a must-have for New Year's dinner in my family.
It's a layered salad that is usually arranged on the platter in a certain order. Pickled sliced herring is laid on the bottom of the platter, and covered with layers of grated ingredients: fresh onion, boiled potatoes, carrots, eggs, and beets.
Salad is dressed with a mixture of sour cream and mayonnaise and decorated with grated egg yolk.
I was born in the Soviet Union and decided to bring that atmosphere to my illustration.
In Azerbaijan, food is the center of everyday life and people here love eating. Since, breakfast is the most important meal of the day, they know how to add variety to it. For starters a well prepared tea is a must. Usually, it`s a black tea that can be flavoured with a slice of lemon, cloves or wild thyme. Other basic elements of a Azerbaijan breakfast are bread and cheese. Tendir is a bread made in a clay oven. Lucky you if you had a chance to try it right after it was baked! Cheese is another important part of the breakfast. Usually you can try 3-5 varieties during the meal. Also, you can enjoy freshly baked bread with farmed made butter and honey. Yum! And, for sure, you have to save some room for the main dish of the breakfast: Pomidor Yumurta - eggs and tomatoes, sautéed in butter. After that a long Azerbaijan breakfast should end with a cup of of the black tea in a traditional tea cup - armudu.
I didn’t quite know what I was getting myself into the first time I happened upon a Chinese hotpot restaurant, but the deliciousness is something everyone should experience! Hotpot has everything you could ask for in a great meal - a shared dinner filled with a variety of fresh ingredients that you get to cook yourself right at the table in a simmering pot of perfectly seasoned broth while socializing with your friends and family. Yes, please!
