When Cornish miners migrated to Michigan's Upper Peninsula in the 1800's, they brought with them their beloved national dish: the pastie. As part of the recipe assignment from RISE, DESIGN, and SHINE - Here in the Midwest we have a version of Goulash that is unique to our part of the country. This is our family's original recipe, but you'll find that there are many versions similar to this. It's amazing comfort food!
This is a simple recipe using more illustration work than wording. It features 1 green pepper chopped, 1 onion chopped, 1 lb ground beef cooked, 2 cans of chopped tomato, 1 can tomato paste, 2 jars of tomato sauce, salt, pepper, chili powder and bay leaves. Then 2 cans of kidney beans. The illustrations are original watercolors with a yellow plaid kitchen'y background with a red frame.
If you visit Madeira.. don't forget to try this 2 dishes and the beverage.. Espetada is about cow roasted meat in a laurel stick. Our tomato soup has an egg.. And don't forget to drink the poncha, my favorite is the lemon one but you can find poncha from a variety of fruits.. passionfruit, tangerine, strawberry..This was a Foliofocus assignment.
