"The Humble Tomato" is an Homage to my lifelong love for the fruit. At six months old, the local small-town Iowa newspaper published a photo of me at a nearby farm; flanked by overflowing bushel baskets, I was covered head-to-toe in tomatoes which had failed to successfully reach my mouth. I hope my "Humble Tomato" illustration inspires many toward happy, healthy and simple enjoyments.
You have no time?
And not a lot of money?
Go for some carrots,
They cheap, fast and YUMMY!
I LOVE carrots! They are in season almost all year long, they are cheap, super tasty and easy to prepare. Taste great raw, cooked and fried. Great for main dishes, soups, salads and deserts (carrot cake anybody?) They are rich in antioxidants, vitamin A and B (and many others!). I always have couple of carrots hidden in the fridge - they are lifesavers!
I draw here three easy to prepare carrot dishes but with carrots the list of delicious dishes never ends!
This is a weekly set of go-to recipes and is heavily dependent on leftovers. Each of the three recipes are sooo good, and I sort of improvise each time I make them. This is the first time I've written them down. So much fun!
I know homemade chicken broth from cooked bones is not quite as flavorful, but it's a great way to eliminate food waste.
Oh, and I hate celery... feel free to add some when making the broth or even the salad.
This illustration is comprised of three recipes that I have invented, by experimenting with my favorite, all-year round vegetable, the carrot. It is perfect for soups, salads and even desserts, and can be combined with many things.+ it's orange, which makes every dish very beautiful! I advise you strongly to experiment, try different spices and combinations.
