Though famous for their olive dishes, the ancient Greeks ate a variety of squash, fruits like pomegranates, figs, and grapes, plenty of fish, and hearty grains. Sardines were the fish of the common folk. Though they kept many goats (who are versatile and good on terrains with poor vegetation) they rarely ate them as they saw it as a waste of good milk. Instead, when goats were killed, they were frequently used as sacrifices to the gods.
What better way to allow for your 5 a day. My kids eyes will light up at the thought of fruity smoothies. They like to choose the fruit and are a lot of fun to make and super delicious to devour for breakfast. Eating the Rainbow can be super healthy, fun and a big hit with the kids!
This is my entry for the first 'handpicked' design challenge, in response to Eat the Rainbow. I genuinely eat this rainbow salad nearly every day for lunch - the amount of colours I get to experience makes the preparation a joy! I've recently actually made time to enjoy making lunch, as opposed to a quick grab and go that I'll eat in 5mins, so this is actually quite special to me :) It's all painted in gouache and then composed in Photoshop, along with a rainbow pattern I made just for this.
