An invaluble winter preserve. We call this recipe " Amlaa Murabba".Amlas(Indian Gooseberries) are major ingredient in
serveral herbal tonics as they are reputed to be good for liver,eyes,hairs and stomach. Amlas are the
richest known source of Vitamin C. Gooseberries Abundantly available during the winter months.
We Indian use gooseberries in pickle in digestive powders and dried them with sugar or salt or both
to eat after every meal for good digestive system.

I was inspired by my husband's grandmother, an excellent pastry chef who always goes into the woods on her electric bicycle, picking red fruits and preparing all kinds of desserts. Twice a year she sends me strawberry jams prepared by her and every visit to her house is full of delicious and traditional desserts. This strawberry season is delicious with her desserts!
Growing up in Virginia Beach, VA, every summer my mom would take my siblings and I to Pungo to go pick strawberries. We would make jar after jar of strawberry jam. This recipe is a quicker version, which can be kept in the freezer till use. Remember to only fill the jar to it’s “shoulder”, or the far could explode in the freezer as the jam expands.
