By far one of the best parts of the holiday season is food! There are so many food traditions around the world surrounding the holidays, from cookies and nuts to spirits and pies. Here are just a few you may know and a few you may want to learn more about!
A selection of well known apple varieties used for pies, sauces, baking and even cider. This spread was inspired from a comment a friend of They Draw and Cook, Jane Pakis, left on a illustrated recipe for Apple and Blackberry Crumble several years ago. I thought at the time, 'Dang this lady knows her apples' I've wanted to create this illustration since then.
Autumn is a bumper time for foraging in woods and hedgerows. Foraging is the act of gathering wild food for free. Although it's gained far greater popularity in recent years, for our distant ancestors foraging would simply have been a way of life.
NOTE : Positive identification is the most important part of becoming a safe hunter-gatherer. If you are not 100% certain you have identified it correctly, under no circumstances eat any wild fruit, raw or cooked.
I created this "Abstract Tropical Fruit" pattern for a online course assignment. Abstract art is always give me headache but I decided to use my favourite tropical fruits as inspiration to create this fun and juicy pattern. :)
I created this delicious, hot and spicy Mexican food pattern illustration for a competition. I would be very happy if one day I can see my food illustration in a cookbook! Perhaps a Mexican food cook book! :D
