Everything you need for a perfect picnic! I illustrated some things to pack for the best picnic ever! Bring cozy blankets, a basket full of tasty treats, a bottle of wine and music and don’t forget to invite your loved ones... or not :) Enjoy!
On my dream board for this year, I wrote in big swirly lettering- New house and a proper studio.
And it's happening!
So my dream picnic will be at our new house, which we will be in at end of September, woot woot!
With cake, because I just turned 50 and there must always be cake, birthday or not, jellybeans- my creative brain fuel, deviled eggs with a sprinkly of curry or paprika because nommmm, a big fresh greens salad to balance that all out, topped with flowers from our new yard, and time for art. And a cosmo, because dammit they are delicious.
Also considering green hair, so there's that, to match our new beautiful green surroundings, with bonus palm trees- yes in Canada!

Even though it will still be summer weather for a long time here in Virginia, I'm looking ahead to picnics in the crisp fall air. Here's my dream menu for a super easy and cozy fall picnic. I tried to structure this piece like a magazine spread, with seasonal flavors like cranberry, squash, and apple, and fun ideas for recyclable packaging and utensil-free eating.
I created this piece in watercolor, ink, and digital media. Special thanks to my mom Shelley, for helping me brainstorm the concept, my sister Katie for writing the snappy magazine-inspired copy, and Nate and Salli for the beautiful Corita font on the dish titles!
I am a Portuguese illustrator who has lived in Milan for 8 years. The memories I have of Portugal are varied but the smell of food that is felt throughout the house while my mom is cooking is one of the things I miss most. "Bacalhau" (cod fish) is in fact a very common food in our kitchens as well as chouriço accompanied by a good wine. This is thus a representation of a Portuguese house
