This recipe is basically the cake that taught me how to bake and raised my esteem as a baker in the eyes of family and friends. You can play with the recipe and add pecan, cinnamon, maple syrup, strawberry jam (not all of them together please). Instead of adding chocolate syrup, you can add chocolate chips. My kids have baked this cake all by themselves several times and it came out great.
