My Dreamy Island Picnic by Cynthia Frenette
Mission, British Columbia, CAOn my dream board for this year, I wrote in big swirly lettering- New house and a proper studio.
And it's happening!
So my dream picnic will be at our new house, which we will be in at end of September, woot woot!
With cake, because I just turned 50 and there must always be cake, birthday or not, jellybeans- my creative brain fuel, deviled eggs with a sprinkly of curry or paprika because nommmm, a big fresh greens salad to balance that all out, topped with flowers from our new yard, and time for art. And a cosmo, because dammit they are delicious.
Also considering green hair, so there's that, to match our new beautiful green surroundings, with bonus palm trees- yes in Canada!

The BEST Shawarma Ever by Cynthia Frenette
Mission, British Columbia, CAGlobal Cuisine
Seriously. Best shawarma imho is from a tiny little spot on Main Street in Vancouver, BC called Mitra Canteen. The friendly dude always greets you with a "Hey guys!" and whips up the yummiest shawarma with homemade hummous and extra hot sauce (if that's your thing), and those yummy crispy burny crunchy chickeny bits that can't be beat. We haven't found any other spots locally that compare, this guy knows his shawarma!

Just Choke It Down by Cynthia Frenette
Mission, British Columbia, CAFave Memory
My late gran had a sassy sense of humour. She was a good cook but sometimes if you gave the hint that you didn't like something she'd made or couldn't finish it, she'd say, with a wry smile and a twinkle in her eye, "Oh, just choke it down!"
I always remember her kitchen in her spooky old house with much love, and her very British-inspired humour. I don't necessarily remember exact dishes she made, other than roast beef & yorkshire pud, but her humour around food and funny sayings (there are a few!), and her favorite daily nip of sherry, are what I remember most!
